Chicago Black Hawks Puck Collection

Chicago Black Hawks Puck Collection

Craig Locaciato loves a lot of things about Chicago. His website craigslostchicago.com celebrates his hometown by taking you back in time to the places locals grew up with, but over time have disappeared. Amusement parks, eateries, even TV shows, it’s a trip down memory lane for everyone to enjoy, not just people from the windy city.

Being a Chicago sports fan, it’s no surprise that Craig is also an avid Black Hawks fan. What is surprising is that for the last thirty years or so he has been amassing a very impressive collection of Chicago Black Hawks Hockey Pucks. From the looks of things, I’m guessing this has to be the largest puck collection devoted to one team in the world.

Collector Guys recently spoke with Craig to get some insight into how his collection began.

What got you started collecting hockey pucks?

I’ve been a collector most of my adult life; I started with beer cans. I just like collecting these because I’ve always liked pucks and figured they wouldn't take up a lot of space, LOL.

How long have you been collecting pucks?

I started this collection in the mid 80's.

How many do you have in your collection at this moment?

Right now…346

Is there one elusive puck that you really want for your collection?

The 1977 Superior puck shown below. The puck itself is a traditional Converse/Art Ross puck. Apparently, at the end of the Converse era, Superior Fabricators took over the operation and attempted to hang on to the US NHL game puck market to no avail.

If you had to pick your five favorite pucks…which would they be?

Here they are in no particular order.

Luckily Craig has made his complete collection available for all collectors to enjoy on his website. Check it out.
